The Ghost Towns series is also grown out of the “Places Between Places” and “Paper Towns” series. In this series I explore, in a more direct way, the aspect of human influence on our places, on our worlds. It speaks to the temporal nature of that influence. And while the natural places change on their own they continue long after our imprint is gone. The series has grown to include vintage portraits. These images speak to the fleeting nature of human life and influence. The vintage portraits are often discarded, sold as curiosities as their connection to their original families becomes thin and obscured over time and abandoned much like some of the places that become ghost towns. Again, I employ surface techniques to emphasize the passage of time and the degradation from neglect and indifference.
