This page contains a return to the type of collage I did throughout the 1980s. This series was created starting sometime in 2014. I was seeking to re-capture some of the raw response to the world I worked from then. When I originally created collage /assemblage work- there was no internet, no social media and so the ability of artists to get their work before audiences was limited. At that time there were "gatekeepers"... galleries, art magazines, museum people... and THEY decided who would be presented to audiences. Around 1983 I was living in Soho (it wasn't then what it was to turn into). The storefront of the building was a sort of make shift gallery/shop, run by an artist sympathizer. Two of my friends (also collage artists that I went to SVA with), rented the space for a month and put up our own show..... early 1980s POP-UP! We actually sold work from that show! Cards were made at a local copy shop on Xerox machines and were distributed by hand to the downtown art people. Some 30 years later, the world has completely changed. I thought I would try some of this work again and present it using this uber-democratic medium (internet).
Note: These works are NOT on the Shop Page (yet). I have not decided what prices they will be offered at. Some were sold at the time I made them (private collection). Interested parties can email me for that conversation.
