"GHOST TOWNS" is a series also grown out of landscape works as well as portrait work. Started in early 2016, this series is a way to address the idea of "place" in the context of human activity & our "stories" and the ephemeral nature of those. Between birth and death, we imprint ourselves on the small corners of the world in which we live. After our lives our done, and as time passes, our imprint fades.... leaving "echos"... some lasting longer than others. These works are made in the visual equivalent of that concept.... layers built up, scraped away, more layers added and scraped away. Time is represented by the process in a condensed manner. Each layer is like a "history". Some layers remain, while others are obscured. The surfaces contain the patina of "activity and time". Just as the places through which we pass in our lives, contain the remnants of our activity & time.
