The title of this series loosely refers to Rene Decartes' mind-body dualism. The "ghost in the machine" is British philosopher Gilbert Ryle's description of Decartes' idea. I expand Decartes' "mind" with the term "spirit". This work is concerned with psychological states. These states "reside" within the body (person) and so the states manifest themselves in and through us. This work attempts to illustrate (visually) our various, collective psychological states, while leaving enough "room" for viewers to super-impose and interpret for themselves based on their own experiences and "stories".
